Physical Description Jarex cuts an imposing figure, standing tall with a lean, athletic build that speaks more to discipline and endurance than brute strength. His features are strikingly symmetrical, framed by the distinctive spots of his Trill heritage that sweep from his temples down the sides of his neck. A strong jawline, subtle cleft chin, and perpetually faint stubble lend his otherwise refined appearance a rugged edge.

His hair is kept short and neatly trimmed, its understated style emphasizing practicality over vanity. Cool blue-gray eyes dominate his features, often fixed in a steady, penetrating gaze that many find difficult to ignore. There is an intensity to his expression—calm, analytical, and quietly self-assured—that can leave others feeling as though they are being carefully studied. While not overtly intimidating, his gaze carries a level of focus and awareness that few can comfortably meet for long.

His posture is consistently upright and controlled, projecting confidence without arrogance. Even at rest, his movements are economical and deliberate, revealing someone who is constantly aware of both himself and his surroundings. He rarely gestures unnecessarily and seldom betrays his emotions through body language, preferring to maintain a composed exterior that gives little away.

Though undeniably handsome, Jarex possesses a reserved, understated presence. Rather than drawing attention through force of personality or physical dominance, he commands it through quiet confidence, keen intelligence, and an air of calm authority that naturally encourages others to take notice.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Jarex is the very definition of an overachiever. Guided by a strong sense of morality and justice, he nevertheless recognizes that the galaxy is rarely as simple as right and wrong. While many strive to see issues in black and white, Jarex understands the vast shades of gray that exist between them.

A loner by nature, he learned early in life that being different often comes at a cost. As a result, he is deeply reserved and reluctant to discuss himself, particularly his extraordinary ability to perfectly recall anything he reads, sees, hears, or experiences. Though he rarely speaks of it, this gift has shaped much of his life and perspective.

Jarex possesses an unwavering belief in the ideals of the Federation and is fiercely dedicated to protecting its citizens, his fellow Starfleet officers, and the crew under his care. At the same time, he understands better than most that circumstances can force difficult choices, and that strict adherence to principle is not always possible when lives hang in the balance.

Even so, he firmly believes that the ends do not justify the means. The only exception, in his view, is when inaction would directly result in the loss of innocent lives. In those moments, he accepts the burden of making difficult decisions, trusting that preserving life must remain the highest priority.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:
Jarex possesses an extraordinary eidetic memory, allowing him to recall anything he has seen, heard, or experienced with perfect clarity, including the emotions associated with those memories. This gift has made him exceptionally observant and attentive to detail.

His keen perception extends beyond simple observation. Jarex is an excellent judge of character, capable of looking past surface appearances to identify underlying motivations, intentions, and truths. Through careful analysis of body language, tone, and behavior, he can often discern a person’s true feelings with remarkable accuracy.

Guided by a strong moral compass, Jarex remains steadfast in his convictions and deeply committed to his personal ideals. He possesses an extensive knowledge of Federation and interstellar law, enabling him to navigate complex legal and ethical situations with confidence and insight.

Above all, Jarex is fiercely loyal and protective of those he considers friends. Once he forms a bond of trust, he will go to great lengths to ensure their safety and well-being.

Weaknesses:
Jarex has a strong tendency toward isolation and is most comfortable operating alone. Off duty, he is often found with a PADD in hand, completely absorbed in whatever subject has captured his interest. While not unfriendly, he rarely goes out of his way to socialize and often keeps others at a distance.

He is intensely private and reluctant to discuss either his past or the full extent of his abilities. His eidetic memory, while an extraordinary asset, has also become a source of emotional vulnerability. Because every memory remains perfectly preserved—including the emotions attached to it—Jarex is hesitant to form deep personal attachments. Losing someone close would leave him with a lifetime of memories he could never forget or diminish, and this fear often causes him to keep others at arm’s length.

Jarex also has a tendency to overanalyze situations and people. His investigative instincts constantly drive him to search for hidden motives, ulterior agendas, and unseen threats. Years spent in intelligence work have left him mildly paranoid by most standards, though he would argue that caution and suspicion are often what keep intelligence officers alive. As a result, he sometimes struggles to fully trust others, even when they have earned it.

Perhaps his greatest personal flaw is his emotional detachment. Jarex exercises exceptional control over his emotions and body language, revealing little of what he is truly thinking or feeling. His preference for objectivity, logic, and efficiency can occasionally cause him to view situations as problems to be solved rather than human experiences to be understood. In moments of stress, he may become so focused on outcomes and strategy that he forgets people are not pieces on a chessboard and that every decision carries personal consequences for those involved.
Ambitions Long term: To continue to serve in Starfleet Intelligence and to protect the Federation and its allies, to protect his crew and ship.

Short term: To serve Starfleet and the Federation as best he can, to see as much of the galaxy as possible, and to make as many positive memories that he can.
Hobbies & Interests Jarex is an avid reader with a wide range of intellectual interests. He is particularly drawn to works on psychology, kinesics, sociology, history, law, literature, criminal pathology, criminology, philosophy, and anthropology. His curiosity about sentient behavior and society has made him a lifelong student of both individuals and cultures.

Beyond academics, Jarex has a deep appreciation for the arts, especially Human artistic expression. He is particularly fond of classical paintings and sculptures, literature, and music. Among musical genres, his favorites are classical music and jazz. He also has a strong appreciation for Japanese History and culture, owning several authentic ancient Japanese artifacts.

While attending Starfleet Academy, Jarex learned to play the tenor saxophone and developed a lasting passion for jazz performance and appreciation. He frequently listens to and performs works associated with legendary musicians such as Lester Young, Cannonball Adderley, Jimmy Dorsey, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane.

Jarex is also highly skilled in strategic games. During his Academy years, he mastered both traditional Earth chess and three-dimensional chess, as well as numerous forms of poker. Thanks to his exceptional memory, analytical mind, and ability to recognize patterns, he became extraordinarily proficient at each. His success at poker eventually became so consistent that several casinos prohibited him from participating, viewing his near-perfect recall and observational abilities as an overwhelming advantage.

Personal History - Born 7/2365 on Trillius Prime.

- Primary schooling on Trillius Prime till high school graduation in 2379.

- Attended the University of Betazed from 2379 - 2383
- PhD in Forensic Psychology & Exopsychology with a specialty in Kinesics, PhD in Forensic Anthropology & Exoanthropology, and PhD in Exosociology from the University of Betazed, 2383.

- Initiate Program, 2383 - 2387
- Joined to Rel symbiont, 6/2387.

Jarex was born to Daved and Aleen Tevar. His father, Daved was a diplomat from the Trill Diplomatic Corps and was usually off world during the earliest years of Jarex's life. Aleen, his mother, was a professor of Biochemistry at the Trill Science Ministry. The eldest of 3 children, Jarex always watched out for his 2 younger siblings. From the moment of each of their births, he vowed that he would do whatever he could do keep his younger sister and brother safe.

Born 6 years after Jaxex, his sister Selira had an interest at an early age in many different kinds of animals. Growing up, he would bring her PADDs with many new animals that he had learned about in his elementary and middle school classes. She was the wide eyed innocent, always taking everything and everyone at face value. Eventually she went to the Trill Science Academy after high school and became an Exozoologist, becoming bonded to a symbiont several years after.

The youngest, Kevid, was a sickly child, having respiratory problems since birth. In his early youth he was sick more years than he was healthy and their mother eventually had to leave the Science Ministry to care for him and teach him at home. Kevid was always fascinated with the symbionts, always asking questions and always wanting to hear stories of where they lived and what they did in their pools when they weren't joined to a Trill host. He eventually joined the Order of Guardians caring for the symbionts and tending to their pools.

When Jarex turned 5, it was evident that he had an eidetic memory, easily able to recall anything he saw, heard or read. As a result, his parents were constantly pushing him to do better, to be better so that he can achieve the highest honor that any Trill could achieve - joining to a symbiont. He excelled at his studies as it was quickly understood by his schoolmates that he was different and was therefore ostracized, leaving them all behind in their studies. Jarex didn't have much of a childhood, as he was not popular Coming from a family of intellectuals, he was constantly reading anything that he could get his hands on. He read books on astrophysics and biochemistry, Trill and Federation history and zoology; and of course, watching after his little brother and sister.

During high school he gravitated to studying about what motivated his own people, other species in the Federation, and beyond; he studied about other cultures, their desires and what drove them. Eventually it turned into a passion in Psychology/Exopsychology and Exosociology. He eventually graduated high school at the age of 14 and left Trillius Prime to study at the University of Betazed, renowned for its Department of Psychology.

While there, he decided to specialize in Forensic Psychology/Exopsychology with a specialty in Kinesics, the study of body language. He was fascinated with the criminal mind; how they could commit such horrendous crimes against others, what caused sentient beings to commit genocide, what motivated power hungry despots to subjugate others for greed or power.

Those actions were so far from the ideals of the Trill and the Federation that he had to find out what made them tick! He was even more fascinated with non-verbal communication or body language, as 60% to 90% of communication is through body language. The vast majority of humanoid beings unknowingly giving their true thoughts away through body language; all it takes is being observant enough. Because of his eidetic memory, enthusiasm for knowledge, his love of Psychology and other species' cultures, he graduated with 4 PhD's, all being in very similar fields, by the age of 18.

It was at that time that he returned to Trillius Prime and joined the Initiate Program for joining with a symbiont. He excelled at the Initiate Program and was eventually sent to a field docent who was an Intelligence officer in Starfleet. It was that docent, a joined Trill named Commander Keran Prel, that instilled in Jarex a respect of law and order and taught him the ideals of Starfleet and what it stood for.

Jarex learned as much as he could from Commander Prel, absorbing his knowledge and love for Starfleet. When the time came, Commander Prel gave his approval to the Symbiosis Commission for Jarex to be bonded to a symbiont. At that time, he also extended him an invitation to join Starfleet by advising him that he was ready to submit a letter of recommendation for admittance to Starfleet Academy, after his bonding. Jarex was deeply honored and agreed that he would Return to Earth and receive a commission from the Academy.

Jarex returned to Trillius Prime and was bonded to the Rel symbiont after the necessary examination period with the Trill Examination Board, in 2387.

CLEARED FOR RETURN TO ACTIVE DUTY.

1/2400 – Return to Active Duty

Following completion of the extensive refit and modernization program, the USS Artemis returned to operational status. Commander Jarex oversaw the reconstitution of the vessel’s intelligence department, implementing new counterintelligence protocols and advanced threat-analysis systems based on lessons learned during the Killion and Kalmtek Operation.

As part of the post-action review, he coordinated with Starfleet Intelligence, Klingon Defense Force Intelligence, and Romulan Republic Intelligence to reassess the ongoing threat posed by Killion and remaining members of his network.

2/2400 - Operation SHADOW GLASS

While conducting patrol operations along former Dominion War transit corridors, the USS Artemis uncovered evidence of a sophisticated intelligence-smuggling network trafficking classified military technologies from abandoned supply caches.

The Artemis spearheaded a multi-sector investigation that exposed numerous covert operatives and criminal intermediaries operating within Federation space.
The operation culminated in the seizure of several Dominion, Federation, and Romulan Republic weapons systems and the arrest of multiple high-value intelligence targets working for a former Tal Shiar operative known as T’Laris.
